Ingredients
  

Tofu
  • 14 oz firm tofu pressed and cubed
Breading
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
Orange Sauce
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water for thickening
Garnish
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced

Method
 

Prepare the Tofu
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
Coat the Tofu
  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
Bake the Tofu
  1. Spread the coated tofu on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Make the Orange Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens.
Combine and Serve
  1. In a large bowl, toss the baked tofu with the orange sauce until well coated.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
