Cook the Beef
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add Vegetables and Seasoning
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Prepare the Buns
- While the mixture simmers, toast the burger buns on a toaster or grill until golden brown.
Assemble and Serve
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese and pickles if desired, then place the top half of the bun on each.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
