  • 1 lb chicken sausage sliced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • 4 cups chicken broth low sodium
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Method
 

Cooking the Sausage
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
Cooking the Orzo and Broccoli
  1. In the same skillet, add the chicken broth, orzo, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the broccoli florets and the cooked sausage. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the orzo is tender and the broccoli is bright green.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes before serving. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy your one-pan meal!
