Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape and Fill
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and spread it onto a greased baking sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
- Fill a piping bag with jam and pipe small amounts into the dimples of the dough.
- Let the dough rest for another 15 minutes.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
