Prepare Cupcake Batter
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the egg, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
Bake Cupcakes
- Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Make Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk, and beat until smooth.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
Decorate Cupcakes
- Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost each cupcake generously with the chocolate frosting.
- Sprinkle crushed chocolate wafer cookies on top to resemble dirt.
- Add gummy worms and chocolate gravestone candies for decoration.
