Ingredients
  

Cupcake Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk can substitute with almond milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Decoration
  • 1 cup chocolate wafer cookies crushed
  • 1 cup gummy worms
  • 12 small chocolate gravestone candies optional

Method
 

Prepare Cupcake Batter
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the egg, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
Bake Cupcakes
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about 2/3 full.
  2. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Make Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk, and beat until smooth.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
Decorate Cupcakes
  1. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost each cupcake generously with the chocolate frosting.
  2. Sprinkle crushed chocolate wafer cookies on top to resemble dirt.
  3. Add gummy worms and chocolate gravestone candies for decoration.

Notes
