Ingredients
  

Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
Lasagna Assembly
  • 9 sheets no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese for topping

Method
 

Prepare the Meat Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Make the Cheese Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, egg, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
Assemble the Lasagna
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Layer 3 no-boil lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the cheese mixture, and then a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce on top.
  3. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake the Lasagna
  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes
