Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Pinch Nutmeg
Wet Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup White granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Milk, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream or Greek yogurt, room temperature
  • 4 TBSP Unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup Strawberries, washed and quartered
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 TBSP Milk

Equipment

  • Donut pans
  • mixing bowls
  • piping bag or ziplock bag
  • Food processor

Method

Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray two donut pans with non-stick baking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, milk, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), melted butter, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Transfer the batter into a piping bag or ziplock bag with the tip cut off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pans, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let donuts cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack.
Glazing
  1. In a food processor, blend the quartered strawberries until pureed. Pour the puree into a bowl and mix in half of the powdered sugar until combined.
  2. Add the remaining powdered sugar to the strawberry mixture and mix until thick. Add the milk and stir until the glaze reaches a coating consistency. If too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  3. Dip each cooled donut into the strawberry glaze and allow to set and dry on the cooling rack.
