Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag black tea or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea
  • 1 stick cinnamon broken into several pieces
  • 1 inch ginger root peeled and sliced thinly
  • ¼ teaspoon whole cloves
  • cups water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey adjust to taste

Method
 

  1. Place the black tea bag or loose leaf black tea in a small teapot or French press and set it aside for later use.
  2. In a small pot, combine the broken cinnamon stick, sliced ginger, whole cloves, and water. Set the pot over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer. Allow it to simmer gently for 3 minutes.
  3. Pour the hot water and spice mixture over the tea in the teapot or French press. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea and spice infusion into a mug. Stir in fresh lemon juice and honey to taste.
  5. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a cinnamon stick if desired.
