Main Ingredients
  • 1 pack thick-cut Beef Bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 baguette baguette
  • to taste Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 4 or 8 ounces log of goat cheese
  • to taste Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey

Equipment

  • Oven
  • baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing Bowl
  • wire rack

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne, and optional red pepper flakes. Dip or coat each beef bacon strip evenly with the mixture. Lay beef bacon in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and caramelized. Watch carefully to prevent burning. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely; it will crisp further as it cools.
  3. Slice baguette into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and toast lightly in the oven or a skillet until golden.
  4. Arrange the goat cheese log on a platter. Place the crispy candied beef bacon (whole or broken) around it. Arrange toasted baguette slices nearby. Drizzle the goat cheese and/or bacon with maple syrup, honey, or hot honey just before serving. Best served at room temperature.
