Ingredients

Apple Fries
  • 3 medium apples preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Method

Prepare the Apples
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and peel the apples, then slice them into thin wedges or fries.
  3. Toss the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Make the Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk until the batter is smooth.
Fry the Apple Fries
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Dip each apple slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place in the hot oil.
  3. Fry the apple slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Add Cinnamon Sugar
  1. In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  2. While the apple fries are still warm, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!
