  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg; heat until warm.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle half of the cheeses on top.
  4. Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  5. Dot the top with butter pieces, cover with foil, and bake for about 40 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
