  • 140 g sour cream
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 100 g butter (for frosting)
  • 90 g granulated sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 100 g heavy cream (for caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce by heating granulated sugar and water until it turns amber. Add butter, cream, and salt; mix until smooth.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  3. In another bowl, beat vegetable oil with both sugars until creamy. Incorporate eggs one at a time, then fold in grated apples, sour cream, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into wet until just mixed. Pour into a greased cake pan.
  5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. For frosting, beat room-temperature butter with powdered sugar and caramel sauce until fluffy. Frost cooled cake generously.
